scoutcanoe_12017 scouts from Troop 48 went on a fantastic canoeing trip June 20th down the Tioughnioga River.  The scouts stayed in Lighthouse Landing campground near Marathon, NY.  In the morning they ate breakfast and made lunch.  They rented canoes and kayaks and were dropped off at the launching site in Blodgett Mills.  The campers and those who joined them went down the river and had loads of fun paddling 15 miles.

There was some splashing and flipping and LOTS of water.  The assistant scout master (not mentioning any names) kept jumping from boat to boat to visit his scouts.

In the middle of the trip the troop stopped for lunch. Some ate in a civilized manner while some threw almonds to the scouts standing in the river.  In the evening the scouts played games and sat round the campfire.  There were lots of sunburns, ouch, although they re-applied!  The troop brought the camera man, as always.

Four boats flipped.  Almost everyone got sunburned.  The scouts paddled fifteen miles down the Tioughnioga River.

Six scouts were in bed by nine o’clock in the evening!  The troop made eighteen tin foil packets dinners over the fire.  Ten parents attended the campout, the most that have been on a campout for a long time.
