What's 'old' is 'new' in Ithaca with the launch of the brand new radio station Pure Oldies which debuts this Wednesday, February 1.

"We are really excited to bring this format back to the region" said Operations Manager Chris Allinger. "These are songs that are truly loved by listeners…so many of them have called asking 'when is it starting?'"

Pure Oldies will focus on the years of 1955- 1968, covering the best music from Elvis, The Beatles, Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra, Jackie Wilson, The Supremes and other premier musical artists of the era. The station will broadcast at 1470 AM (which is the same dial position that legendary Ithaca station broadcast Oldies on WTKO in the 1970s). In addition the station will air on a metro signal in stereo at 94.1FM and on HD Radio at WQNY 103.7 HD-2.

Cayuga Radio Group President and General Manager said, "Pure Oldies will be a fun format for our region. It represents some of the best music ever recorded at an amazing time in America. The British Invasion, Motown, and great crooners like Sinatra, along with the stars like Elvis that become the most popular stars in America through the power of radio and the early years of TV."

"The listening audience will be primarily comprised of Adults over 45 years old, and this is a very attractive audience for our local businesses to reach active Baby Boomers. This audience has great discretionary income that allows them to travel around the world yet also eat at our local restaurants. In Pure Oldies, they will enjoy their favorite music and we plan on adding some special programming elements to give our station a very local sound." Osadchey added.
