The Lansing Lions Club wants to make it easier to donate used eyeglasses to those in need.  Wednesday the Town Board considered a request to place a mailbox on town property near or on the Town Ballfields where donors can drop off their used eyewear.

While there are drop-off boxes in Lansing, they are not always easy to find.  The weather-proof receptacle would be placed where the most Lansing people could see it.  It could be moved around town properties for different seasons for maximum exposure.

Board members were supportive of the plan.

"I think its a cute idea," said Councilman Ed LaVigne.
