food-prime-rib120If you eat at Rogues' Harbor Inn, three people in need also eat.  It is that simple - you order an entré the inn donates a dollar, which buys three meals for  people in need.  The program is currently running and continues throughout December.  Rogue's Harbor owner Eileen Stout says she wants to keep it simple -  no forms, no donation jars, nothing extra to do.

"People just come in for dinner," says Stout.  "For every dinner entré we sell we're going to donate a dollar to the Southern Tier Food Bank.  It's really amazing how far they can make a dollar go.  If people want to donate extra we're happy to accept it and include it with our donation."

Stout is calling it 'A Season of Giving'.  She says she can't give to everyone, so she thinks carefully about where she can do the most good.

"I think feeding people pretty much tops the list," she says.  "Kids especially.  Hungry children, that really bothers me.  I've always wanted to raise money for the Southern Tier Food Bank.  This year I got in touch with someone there and we put together the idea in just a few minutes.  I'm pretty happy with it."

The Food Bank really knows how to stretch a dollar.  $2 provides six meals.  $3 helps feed a child in need in the Backpack Program, and $5 enables the Food bank to acquire $28 of food, which is distributed to local food pantries, including the Lansing Food Pantry.

Stout says that prime rib on Fridays and Saturdays sells out every weekend, so should be a prime source of money for the Food Bank.  Stuffed Berkshire pork chop is another entré that should help raise the total.  So it's not hard to have a great meal and feel good about helping to feed people who really need a meal.
