llh opening

Love Living at Home (LLH) opened Monday for services and programs in Tompkins County. LLH's mission is to help older adults live at home as long as possible. Over 80 members have already joined LLH prior to opening to build a mutually supportive virtual retirement community.

LLH follows a national model called the Village to Village Network that seeks to improve access to services, increase socialization and civic engagement, and strengthen a sense of community among its participants.

"Love Living at Home is not a place on a map - it is a gateway to relationships and resources for older adults who desire to live in the homes and neighborhoods they love. We are a welcoming network of people helping people. Our programs enrich life and forge connections for new friendships. When you need peace of mind, support is one phone call away." Kathleen M. Garner, LLH board chair, said.

LLH does not duplicate existing Tompkins County resources, but helps seniors move through the maze of service options. Through a combination of volunteer support and connection to existing resources, older adults living at home have increased peace of mind that one call to the office will provide the information and support necessary to stay at home through the life span.

LLH has developed varied series of programs and events to help members get to know one another, build a sense of community and have fun. LLH programs will link members to the rich of array of restaurants, lectures, concerts and other events throughout Tompkins County.
