valentine1Going on a romantic Valentines's day trip?  According to a study on WalletHub your best bet is San Francisco, which ranked #1 out of 100 U.S. cities.  The study ranked each city on 'Valentine's Budget', activities, gift accessibility and weather forecast.  San Francisco ranked #1 on activities and gifts, 12 on weather, and 25 on budget.

"On Valentine’s Day, many couples will be faced with the decision of whether to splurge and indulge themselves with candlelight dinners, romantic trips, and spa vacations," says Boston College Carroll School of Management Assistant Professor of Marketing Hristina D. Nikolova.  "However, couples should be careful when they decide together how much to spend on the luxurious getaway vacation or the upscale dinner they are planning for Valentine’s Day."

The top ten destinations are San Francisco, CA; Seattle, WA; Orlando, FL; San Diego, CA, San Jose, CA; Irvine, CA; Portland, OR; Scottsdale, AZ; Plano, TX; and Fremont, CA.  Honolulu, HI ranked #11.

WalletHub looked at the average price of a Valentine's Day party ticket, restaurant prices, beauty salon, movie and wine prices, and the the number of restaurants and attractions.  The study analyzes the number of jewelry stores, florists, specialty stores and most importantly, chocolate shops.

Detroit, MI got the worst ranking, followed by Laredo, TX; North Las Vegas, NV; Toledo, OH; and Winston-Salem, NC.  Right, you probably don't want to spend a romantic Valentine's Day with your honey in down town Detroit.
