scouts trautmanMay 1, 2017 the Boy Scouts of America, Baden-Powell Council will honor Charlie Trautmann with its prestigious 2017 Tompkins County Distinguished Citizen Award during its annual fundraising dinner held at Ithaca College, Emerson Suites.

Trautmann as this year’s honoree will be recognized by Baden-Powell Council and other business and community leaders for his significant achievements and service to the community and its youth.

Over 125 guests will add to the evening’s festivities honoring Trautmann, including many of Tompkins County’s top community leaders.

Tompkins County’s Distinguished Citizen Award recognizes individuals who set positive examples for others and who demonstrate concern and significant care for their communities. Prior Distinguished Citizen Award recipients include: Brigid Hubberman, David Dunlop, Jerry Dietz, Cal Walker, Gene Yarussi, Robert MacKenzie, Brian Wilbur, Carol & Mack Travis, Gregory Hartz, Laurie Linn, Paul Steiger, Lawrence Baum, Alan Cohen, Carl Haynes, James Byrnes, Noel Desch, Andrew Sciarabba, Beverly Baker, Dr. Frank Rhodes and Fran & Wendell Earle.

In addition to honoring Charlie Trautmann the evening will showcase the positive benefits that Scouting contributes to Tompkins County. Scouts from Tompkins County will participate in the evening’s ceremonies. During the evening, Scouts will share their Scouting leadership experiences and show the positive effect that Scouting has on today’s youth.
