Band Stand Dedicated to Town |
|
Tuesday, 17 June 2008 |
Last night a large crowd gathered for the official dedication of the band stand in Myers Park from the Lansing Lion's Club to the Town of Lansing. Supervisor Scott Pinney, Councilpeople Connie Wilcox, Matt Besemer, and Marty Christopher were on hand along with Parks Superintendent Steve Colt to be part of the ceremony.
Lin Davidson and Char Wilson "We put together an idea, and the idea came into fruition, said
outgoing President Lin Davidson. "Today the Lansing Lions would like
to convey the gazebo to the Town. There's no key to the gazebo, so we
can't hand you the key, but it is now the Town's."
Davidson was
awarded a plaque for serving as club president for three years. Betty
Ellis and Noni Krom were awarded Lion of the Year. Char Wilson was
awarded 'Citizen of the Year' for her leadership in bringing the
gazebo-style band stand from concept to reality.

The Lansing Lions Club finished the new bandstand in Myers Park just in time for Lansing Harbor Festival ! The festival was rung in as Town Supervisor Steve Farkas and Village Mayor Don Hartill rang the bells. The very first group to perform on the bandstand was the Lansing High School Cabaret. Lansing Throw Benefits Myers Band Stand |
|
Tuesday, 17 January 2006 |
The Lansing Lions Club is selling a throw to raise money to
build a band stand in Myers Park. For only $48 you can own your
own 78x48 navy blue and off white two-ply cotton throw that
commemorates our town and help fund something that will benefit the
whole community for many years to come.
The throw is made of machine washable cotton, and has scenes from
the different areas of Lansing. Depicted on the throw are Lansing
Community Center (which the Lions donated to the Town of
Lansing), Rogues Harbor Inn in South Lansing, the lighthouse at
Myers Park, Ludlowville Falls, the first Lansing Central High
School that was known as Ludlowville High, Cargill Salt Mine and a
North Lansing barn and a cow that represents farming.
