Lansing Football Win Over Greene Print Recommend This Article to a Friend

ImageThe varsity football team travelled to Greene last Friday and came away with a 22-14 victory. Vincent Redmond led the Bobcats throwing for 197 yards, a touchdown and running for a score. Colden Knapp rushed for 80 yards while Teagen Barresi had five receptions for 85 yards. The Bobcat defense was lead by Charlie Hatfield and T. J. French.

The team travels to T-Burg Friday for a 7:00 kickoff.

Girls Swim Team Scores Big Print Recommend This Article to a Friend

ImageLast week saw another triumph for Lansing's Girls Varsity Swimming and Diving Team at a meet at Waverly.  The Ladycats scored more than double Waverly's final result in a 125 - 58 meet.  Lansing girls won nine first places to Waverly's two in the eleven swimming events.

Lansing started strong with the 'C' team of Kali Dean, Alex Conte, Courtney Pollack and Ashley McDonald taking first place in the 200 Yard Medley Relay.  Jessica Morse, Shaye Weldon, Chelsea Tucker and Anna Mapes also scored for Lansing in third place.  Waverly's Cassidy Farr took first in the 200 Yard Freestyle, with Lansing's Lexi Payton, Chelsie Radcliffe, and Andrea Payton scoring.  Lansing was back on top when Alex Conte took first place in the 200 Yard IM, finishing in 2:35.60.  Valerie Massi and Katrina Mehringer also scored for Lansing in the event.

The Lansing Cross Country team has had a busy week. At the Trumansburg Invitational on Saturday Travis Miller battled with Trumansburg's Dan Stackman to win fifth place in a time of 14:40 on the 2.5 mile course. Sophomore Luke Davis raced for the first time in several meets, due to a back injury, and did well finishing 28th with a time of 16:03. Mike Monacelli won the award for "middle of the pack" placing 32 out of sixty four runners.

At the Whitney Point Invitational on Tuesday, Lansing competed with 19 other area schools. Lansing finished 9th with star performances from Josh Barber and Travis Miller, each earning trophies for their performances. The team set many personal records at this meet including sophomore Dan Comisi with a time of 21:33 and senior Casey Nassif with 22:38.   Shanna Swanson continued to dominate the varsity girls competition coming in 6th with a personal best time of 21:34. The team will race again this Saturday at Marathon and compete in IACs on October 27 in Marathon.

Josh Barber and  Shanna Swanson were 1st team All Stars at the Divisional Meet at Groton Stoneheadges Golf Course on Tuesday. The team placed 4th overall.

Each Lansing runner improved his time for the course from last season.

The Bobcats go to Trumansburg this Saturday at 10:00am.

ImageThe Ladycat Varsity Swimming and Diving team raced to another win when they beat Watkins Glen 112-70 in a home meet last week.

Watkins Glen took first in the 200 Yard Medley Relay Varsity with two Lansing teams scoring when Lexi Payton, Alex Conte, Courtney Pollack and Ashley McDonald came in second, and Kate Adie, Katrina Mehringer, Kelsy Quigley and Morgan Barron third.  But Kali Dean ttok first place, finishing the  200 Yard Freestyle in 2:01.68.  Alex Conte came in second in the 200 Yard IM Varsity, with Lexi Payton and Courtney Pollack also scoring for Lansing.  Watkins Glen took first again in the 50 Yard Freestyle with Ashley McDonald, Anna Mapes, and Katrina Mehringer scoring for Lansing.
