Lansing Varsity Bowlers Maintain Wins Print Recommend This Article to a Friend

Both Bobcat teams maintained their pace Tuesday in the IAC taking all four points each from Watkins Glen. On the Boys side Phil Kulis led the way with a fine 257/686 followed by Kyle Christopher225/614, Tyler Clark 213/590 and Dan Baldini 227/581. A total team effect was recorded in the win, as Lukas Buckman had a 593 series for Watkins.

On the Girls side the Lady Bobcats were led by Kristi Sullivan 183/480 as all five starters had 400 series or better. Both teams will not see action until 1-27-07 at the Big House in Elmira as next week is regents & midterm week.

Lansing Wrestlers Do Well in Tournament Print Recommend This Article to a Friend

The Lansing Wrestling team competed in The Mike Watson Invitational Tournament last weekend, finishing in a suprising 3rd place as a team.  "We had 5 wrestlers in the semi-finals and four made it to the finals".  Kyle Dake improved his record to 27-0 pinning Cody Budd of South Seneca in the finals at 112, Jon Glennon had a major decision in the 140 weight class beating Justin Hall of Odessa-Montour 12-2.

Vernon Nabinger,wrestling at 135, lost a tough match 6-4 in overtime to Jon Roberts from Rush-Henretta. Matt Starner made it to the first final of his career in the 152 pound bracket, but fell short of the title losing to Brian Thall of Waverly. Curtis Fenner lost a tough match in the semi-finals at 145, to Don Bower from Corning. Curtis was dominating the match 7-0 when Bower hit a head-lock and pinned Fenner. Curt wrestled back and took 3rd avenging a earlier season loss to Waverly's Zack McCutheon. Matt Martin wrestled hard and rounded out the Bobcat placers taking 5th at 160.

Big Win for Girl's Basketball Print Recommend This Article to a Friend

The Lansing Girl's Basketball team improved their record to 11-2 on the season with a 61-25 win over visiting Newark Valley on Tuesday. Randi Lyn Randall led a balanced scoring attack with 14 points, and a team high 8 steals. Rachael Palladino had 12 points on 5 of 6 shooting from the floor, and MC Barrett had 10 points and tied for the team lead with Megan Palladino with 7 rebounds. Kendal Dean added 8 points on 4 of 5 shooting, and a team high 3 blocked shots. Kaycee Nedrow had an excellent overall game chipping in with 4 points, 5 steals and a team high 6 assists.

The Ladycats open the second round of Division III play on Friday, as they host Moravia.

The Lansing Athletic Hall of Fame has announced the 'Class of 2006,' six new members to be inducted at a ceremony Saturday, January 27th between the Junior Varsity and Varsity basketball games between Lansing and Groton.  Former Lansing athletes will return to Lansing from Michigan, Virginia, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania for the event, including all five individual inductees and some members of the Men's Basketball Team from the Class of 1955-56.

LCAT Ten-Year-Old Beats World Champion Print Recommend This Article to a Friend

Over the January 6-7 weekend, the CATS swam in the Niagara Swimming District Bronze Meet in Watkins Glen. The meet involved several teams and close to two hundred swimmers from the Niagara District. The LCAT swimmers competing in this meet achieved almost 400 personal best times throughout their preliminary and final event swims.

The swimmers also achieved over 70 Silver times, allowing them to advance to the next level of competition in those events. With swimmers hitting those new times, the CATS now have between 50-60 youngsters eligible for the Niagara District Silver Championships held in Webster in early February.
