Lansing wrestlers Kyle Dake and Vernon Nabinger took silver and bronze medals in their weight division at the Empire State Games last week. The Games is a multi-sport event held annually. It is patterned after the Olympics, and is the largest competition event of its kind. The program is run by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation. This summer's games were held July 27 through 31 in Hudson Valley.

Kyle Dake took second in the Scholastic Division 44KG-98lb GrecoRoman men's wrestling event on July 28 and 29th. He won all but the last match, defeating Steven Keith of Long Island, Joseph Cipriano of New York City, Mike Ahearn of the Hudson Valley region, and Matthew Rowe of the Adirondack region. In the final round he was defeated by Nicholas Wilcox by pinning, landing him the silver medal.

The Lansing prep boy's baseball team rounded out their season the past Tuesday, finishing 14-0 in their six-team league.  In the championship game against rival Dryden, the boys came from behind, picking up four runs in the sixth inning after being down 4-2.

Third baseman Matt Tucci stepped up to the plate and singled first for Dryden, followed by left-fielder Nathan Steele who singled as well.  Center fielder Michael Bradford was walked, loading the bases before first baseman Nolan Milliman doubled, bringing in three runs to put Lansing ahead by one.  Another run was driven in late in the inning, bringing Lasing up 6-4, where the scoreboard remained for the rest of the game.

A Tradition of Excellence Built on Community Print
