On January 31, 2008, the Lansing Boys' Varsity Swim Team defeated Dryden 102-84.  Lansing ended its regular season of dual meets undefeated.  The highlights of this meet included the medley relay team qualifying for the state meet, two new Lansing school records, and four new Dryden pool records.

Lansing's 200 medley relay team – Jake Sangren (backstroke), David Bandler (breaststroke), Dan Ravas (butterfly), Casey Hagin (freestyle) – recorded the time of 1:41.24 which is a state qualifying time.  The time needed to qualify is 1:41.72.  Assistant Coach Reed Dewey stated, "Casey Hagin and Dave Bandler joined Dan Ravas and Jake Sangren to get the state cut in the 200 medley relay and post the fastest time in Section IV so far this season.  It's quite an accomplishment for these boys to get up and put a decent relay together, especially after losing Hans Roser, Aaron Mychack and Sterling Gell from last year's 200 medley relay team (3rd in the entire state).

Michael Stanhope cheers as he is chosen 7th in the Lansing Marina lottery
The New York State Lottery isn't the only drawing people were anxious about in Lansing this week.  Wednesday night a smattering of boating enthusiasts gathered at Lansing Town Hall to see how they would do in the Town Marina lottery for dock spaces.  Every three years boaters send in their applications, hoping to get a spot in the popular Myers Park marina.  This year the Park and Recreation Department got over 300 requests for information, and received 83 applications back.  "That was a real big number for us," says Park Superintendent Steve Colt.  "For us that's good news."

State Law doesn't permit the Town to restrict lakefront boat slip space to Lansing residents, so the town holds a lottery to insure that no preference is given to any particular applicant.  Residents do get a generous break on the rental fee if they win a spot in the Marina.  Smaller slips that accommodate 19' boats go for $608 for non-residents and $475 for residents.  The largest slips that will hold a 30' boat go for $960 for non-residents and $750 for residents.  Lansing boaters even get a $50 break on electrical service, which costs an additional $200 for non-residents who rent slips that have power available.  Applications came from as far as Binghamton and Endicott, as well as Ithaca, Dryden, and Freeville.

The Lansing Athletic Hall Of Fame held it's tenth annual induction in front of a huge crowd in the Lansing High School gym Saturday.  The Hall Of Fame honors past Lansing athletes who excelled in more than one varsity sport and graduated at least ten years before being inducted.  It also recognizes teams that achieved championship status in league, sectional, regional, or state competition at least ten years before the time they are inducted.  This year Kevin Kessler (1996), Amy Childers (1993), and Dennis "Bubby" Eade (1993) were honored along with the 1976-1977 Men's Basketball Team.
