Worship In Lansing
It is well known that many Lansing residents travel - a lot! As they've been going down the road the past few months, they've noted the following wise words from the billboards of churches of various faiths all over the United States:

Myers Park has been busy all summer. Pavilions are rented months in advance, as are camp sites. The concessions stand has been well run this year with the contract holder providing good food and service and keeping the area clean.
The concert series went well, but the program is requesting to move back to Thursday nights next year. Audiences were low on Sundays as park-goers came at that time for different activities. Park Superintendent Steve Colt felt that people listened from the different areas in the park, but did not congregate around the performers. He noted it is easier to get bands to play on a week night, because they are often booked on the weekends. |

The Lansing Town Board held a public hearing on whether to grant Lansing Youth Services an additional $1,300 for their 2005 budget. Last month Program Manager Micaela Cook asked for the funding to make up for a shortfall caused by a rise in the minimum wage. At that time she outlined the many successes the program has achieved this year.
Lansing Youth Employment Coordinator Dawn Kleeschulte appealed to the board in the public hearing, noting the funding is needed to pay for youth jobs. In 2004 $7,825 was spent to employ 36 young people, all in their first jobs. In 2005 $7,889 was allocated which equals 1,531 hours of youth employment at the old minimum wage of $5.15 per hour, but only 1,341 hours at the new $6.00 rate. |

Hello my name is Tamira! I am a spayed adult female. I was a stray and was adopted once but I decided to chase a cat and was sent back. I like to have all the attention all myself so it would be best if I was your only furry friend. If you think I am the one for you come visit me at the SPCA now!
