They say it's impossible to herd cats. If that's true audiences next week will witness a miracle when 47 Lansing High School students perform the Andrew Lloyd Weber musical 'Cats, based on T.S. Elliot's 'Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats.' The show features many show-stopper songs and a lot of dancing.
"It's very Webberish," says director Cindy Howell. "It's a definite style of music, but it's also very exciting. Every number has its own special thing. That was one of the reasons I picked 'Cats.' We have 47 kids, 20 of which in any other school would be their lead. We have a lot of really talented kids in this show, and 'Cats' has a lot of different 'lead' numbers, so there are a lot of different things that kids were able to create."

For those of us who have been disappointed in global warming this winter, the cold spell has brought at least one unusual discovery. This rather large frozen stegosaurus was spotted in front of the Leathers/Cundy residence in Lansing the other day. While some scientists think dinosaurs became extinct because of a severe ice age, it is clear that this cold winter has brought at least one back.

Cortland, NY — The Habitat for Humanity of Tompkins and Cortland Counties (TCHFH) Board of Directors unanimously approved the newest Habitat Partner Family, The Hutchings, for the next Cortland build. Chad Hutchings, Courtney Stark, and Emma Hutchings, 5 years-old, will live in a new single-family home to be built by volunteers on 33 Arthur Avenue. Construction is slated to begin this spring.
“Everyone at our organization is so excited about partnering with the Hutchings Family,” says executive director Christy Voytko, “Habitat’s Family Selection Committee met the family first and enthusiastically recommended them to the Board to be selected for this build. Last Monday, the Board had the opportunity to meet them. Emma, who completed her 100th day of school that day, took charge and decided to write all of the Board Member’s nametags while Courtney and Chad helped her sound out everyone’s name. It was obvious that they are a family that supports one another.”
