ITHACA, NY - Ellen M. Hitchcock-Sinn, formerly of Camptown, Pennsylvania, died at the age of 87 on March 18th, 2006 from pneumonia, causing her heart to fail. Ellen was a resident at Northwoods Nursing Home in Moravia, NY, when she passed away.

Ellen was born on September 29, 1918. She was the daughter of William T. Vinson and Debra Benjamin Vinson.  Ellen attended Camptown, PA, schools. Throughout her life, she worked as a cab driver for Yellow Cab of Ithaca, NY, worked as a nurse at The Odd Fellows and The Reconstruction Home, and worked at the Montessori School in Ithaca as a janitor.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Georgianna; and husbands, George D. Hitchcock and Russell Sinn; and her brothers, Pete Vinson and Ralph Vinson.

Ellen is survived by her daughters, Doris Chilson-Wood-Hyer (Duane) of Freeville, NY, Shirley Lane-Meeker (Tom) of PA; and a son, George D. Hitchcock of Freeville, NY.

Ellen is also survived by her sisters, Hazel Blake and Genevieve Walker-Spence; 15 grandchildren, John, Jalenia, Bonnie, Raymond, Roderick, Lyle, Valerie, Kenny, Richard, Joseph, Shirley, Ellen, Georgia, George and Daniel; 45 great and 35 great-great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

There will be a celebration of her life, at Ellen's request, at her daughter, Doris's home on Saturday, March 25th, 2006, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at 2301 Hanshaw Rd., Freeville, NY.
