Lansing Varsity Scores Big in Track & Field |

Lansing trounced Union Springs in a track meet Tuesday night, with Lansing girls scoring 123 to Union Springs' 15, and Lansing boys winning 89-52. The meet pitted Dryden against Watkins Glen as well. "All teams had some very good performances tonight," said Lansing coach Carolyn Ferguson. "Dryden and Watkins are not in our division so that competition does not count towards our league record. Lansing will face both Dryden and Watkins in the overall IAC Championships later this month," she explains.
Ferguson reports Lansing's Rusty Landon was a 4 event winner (110H, 400m, 800m, 1600m Relay), Carol Melice was also a 4 event winner (100m, 200m, Pole Vault, 400m Relay). Melice and Kiki Gifft both broke the facility record in the pole vault.
Gifft previously held the record (10' 1") set at the Lansing Invitational earlier this season. Both Melice and Gifft vaulted to 10' 6" in the meet. Melice won the event based on the least amount of missed attempts.
