After almost two years without a permanent Business Administrator Larry Lawrence has been hired by the Lansing School District for that post.  The post has been filled with interim officials since August 2004 when Gary Alger began.  He was replaced by the current Interim Business Administrator Larry Dirscoll on October 1, 2005.  Lawrence is currently the Comptroller of the Cerebral Palsy and Handicapped Children's Association of Chemung County.

Lawrence earned his BA in History SUNY at Genneseo,  MA in Sociology at SUNY Binghamton, and MBA with concentration in organizational behavior at SUNY Binghamton.  He completed 27 credits of further study in educational administration at SUNY Albany and Cortland.  He also completed certificate program in labor relations contract administration at Cornell School of Industrial and Labor Relations.

Lawrence has about 15 years of experience, having served as Business Administrator in three districts, Chenango Forks, Elmira Heights and Port Jervis.  "Larry went through an extensive interview process," says Superintendent Mark Lewis.  "The feedback we received was that Larry was head and shoulders above all the other candidates."  Lewis says he also had many positive references from people around the state that Lewis knows.

Lawrence lives in Horseheads with his wife.  He will begin at Lansing August 1.
