Wellington H. “Bill” Bachelor, 81, of Lansing, NY, passed away on Sunday November 19, 2006, at his home. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Eleanor (Burun) Bachelor; his four daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Bill Ortlieb, Herkimer, NY, Pat and Kevin Vincent, Veronica Horton, Cindy and Chuck Bower, all of Lansing, NY; his son and daughter-in-law, Willy and Michelle Bachelor, Lansing; his grandchildren, Loreen and Nate Hobart, Amy Ortlieb, Caleb and Catlain Vincent, Stephanie and Arnold Vasquez, Jonathan Horton and Misty, Chad and Anthony Bower, Kaysee, Tyeler, Jordan, Mackenzie Bachelor; his great grandchildren, Alexa, Victoria, Gavin.

He is also survived by his sisters and brother-in-law, Ruth Davis, Mabel Teeter, Henrietta Smith, Joyce and Donald Kimpland; and his several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Casper Bachelor; and sister, Jennie Bush. Bill was born in Ithaca, NY, on February 20, 1925, the son of the late Herbert and Flora Pearl (Close) Bachelor. He was a Veteran of WWII, serving with the 18th Airborne Battalion of the US Army. Bill retired from Borg Warner after 42 years of service, and was a longtime member of the Lansingville Volunteer Fire Department. Bill was a devoted, loving husband, father and grandfather “Beard”, and was loved by all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Ceremony at Lansingville Cemetery, on Wednesday November 22, 2006, at 2:00pm, with Rev. Peter Hopper officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the New York State Military Forces Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may kindly consider a memorial contribution, in memory of Bill, to the charity of their choice. “Drive fast, and Don’t be bitter.”
