The Lansing Boy's Track and Field team had four boys qualify for the State Meet in Kingston in 5 events. Senior Andy Lockwood set a new IAC record in the Shot put with a toss of 55' 8" (over a foot better than his previous IAC record throw). He also qualified in the Discus with a throw of 162' 9". He was the winner in both events and looks strong going into the State meet. Rick Jones has done a tremendous job in coaching Andy, and I am personally greatful for all that he's done to get Andy to this level.

Senior Rusty Landon qualified in the 110m Hurdles with a time of 15.7. He finished third overall, but was the top Small school finisher in the event. He also took 3rd overall in the 400m dash with a time of 49.78, but will not advance because the top two finishers were both from the small school division. Senior Devin Strehle qualifed in the 400m Hurdles with a time of 58.16. He finished third overall.

Senior Jeremy Petak qualified in the pole vault with a clearance of 13' 0". He took 3rd overall in the event as well.

Senior Pat Sweazey placed 6th overall in the pole vault with a jump of 12' 0".

The boys 1600m Relay team of Ken Tillapaugh, Henry Potter, Devin Strehle, and Rusty Landon ran to an overall 3rd place finish in a time of 3:27.62. Although they medaled, they didn't qualify for the state meet because the two teams that beat them were both in the small school division.

Freshman Josh Barber ran a personal best of 4:46.52 in the 1600m. Although he didn't place, this was a great season's best for such a young athlete in the field of 11th and 12th graders.

Overall, the boys have had a great season. They were 2nd at IAC's, and 1st at Sectionals. I am so glad that I had the privilege to coach such a great group of athletes here at Lansing. Although our seniors will truly be missed, I'm excited to see what our young group will produce next season.
