(Ithaca, NY)  The Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce announced a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, September 19th at 11:30 AM at The Center for Health.  The Center For Health is a community resource for information and treatment options in acupuncture, massage therapy, Chinese herbs and therapeutic exercise.  It is a joint practice of licensed healthcare professionals who specialize in comprehensive solutions for pain and stress.

The mission of the Center is to provide an intelligent approach to natural therapies with a commitment to professional excellence. The practitioners work together to offer comprehensive care that includes treatments onsite as well as support and planning for lifestyle changes that patients make at home. All of the practitioners at the Center for Health are dedicated to community education with regard to the safe and effective use of the natural and holistic therapies. For people seeking to improve their health, The Center offers an informed and individualized approach to achieving that goal.

The Center For Health is directed by Abigail Thomas-Costello MS, LMT, LAc. Abigail is licensed in acupuncture and massage therapy. She is board certified in Chinese Herbology. She is a graduate of the New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics and the NYCC School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Seneca Falls, NY, where she currently serves on the faculty as a clinical supervisor. Abigail specializes in acupuncture for pain management and Chinese herbs for women's health.

Maren Waldman and Traci Wells, both graduates of the Fingerlakes School of Massage, have an understanding of massage therapy as healthcare, rather than as a luxury.  Maren brings special focus to massage for building body awareness and relaxation through acupressure, Swedish massage and stretching. Traci offers a deep Swedish style of massage for pain relief and stress reduction. Michael Costello is a licensed physical therapist, certified manual therapist and doctoral candidate at Rocky Mountain University. He offers personalized exercise training and tai chi instruction.  The Center is open Monday through Saturday, by appointment.
