Lansing Girl Swim Team Starts With a Win Print Recommend This Article to a Friend

ImageLansing Varsity girls started the season with a strong win against Southern Cayuga when they won a stunning 112 to 58 swim meet.  Lansing girls took first place in eleven out of twelve events in the meet.

Lexi Payton, Katrina Mehringer, Kelsy Quigley and Kali Dean took first in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, finishing in 2:09.98.  The Lansing 'E' team, including Anna Mapes, Sarah Tull, Courtney Pollack and Kate Adie also scored in the event.  Lansing took the top three slots in the 200 Yard Freestyle when Ashley McDonald finished first in 2:13.85, Alex Conte second in  2:21.65  , and Valerie Massi took third place with 2:25.74.  In the Girls 200 Yard IM Lexi Payton finished in 2:38.79 to take first place, while Kelsy Quigley scored in second place.

Kali Dean finished first in 25.68 in  the 50 Yard Freestyle, with Lansing girls Anna Mapes and Katrina Mehringer scoring in third and fourth place.  Courtney Pollack sped to 100 Yard Butterfly first place in  1:13.58, closely followed by Kelsy Quigley in second, and Susanne Donovan in fourth.

Alex Conte finished first in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:02.79, with Valerie Massi scoring in fourth.  In the eigth event Lansing girls completed the 500 Yard Freestyle in the top three spots, when when Ashley McDonald finished in 6:11.05, Lexi Payton
in 6:30.73, and Nicole Nassif taking third place in 6:51.91 .

Next up was the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay in which Lansing's 'C' team, Katrina Mehringer, Danyelle Barron, Alex Conte and Ashley McDonald, took first place in 1:55.01.  Kali Dean completed the 100 Yard Backstroke in only  1:04.63, to win first place, with Lansing swimmers Anna Mapes and Kate Adie scoring in third and fifth place respectively.

Southern Cayuga's Kathryn Carter had the best time in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, with Sarah Tull, Katrina Mehringer, and Chelsea Tucker scoring for Lansing.  In the final event Lansing's 'C' team of Kali Dean, Alex Conte, Kelsy Quigley and Ashley McDonald raced to first place in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, finishing in 4:08.60.  Lexi Payton, Valerie Massi, Anna Mapes and Kate Adie
also scored for Lansing.
