Lawrence F. "Larry" Small, age 84, of 16 Sharpsteen Road, Locke, NY, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, November 18, 2007.

Larry was born on February 8, 1923 in Ithaca, NY, a son of the late Fred and Elizabeth Lawrence Small. Upon graduation from Ithaca High School in 1942, Larry enlisted in the US Navy and proudly served his country overseas from 1943 to 1946. Upon his return he worked as a truck driver, and eventually joined the Teamsters Union. He worked for over 20 years as the secretary/treasurer of the Teamsters Local #65 in Ithaca. In his retirement, he enjoyed many hours lake cruising and navigating the canal systems, hunting and traveling with his wife.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy; a son, Greg Small of Cortland; a daughter, Elizabeth V. (Richard) Chandler of Moravia; a brother, Robert Small of Ithaca; a sister, Jean Daugherty of Groton; and several nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Small in 1979; and by a brother, Fred Small Jr.; and sisters, Ida Myskow and Edith Sherwood.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 23, at Lansing Funeral Home, 32 Auburn Road, Lansing, NY, a funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. William Gottschalk-Fielding of the Lansing UMC. Interment will be held at the North Lansing Cemetery. Those who wish to remember Larry in a memorial may do so to the Tompkins County SPCA or the charity of their choice.
