The Lansing Girls Basketball team defeated Dryden last Friday 63-27, then on Tuesday the Ladycats lost their first game of the season at Elmira Notre Dame 51-39.
Against Dryden, Jocelyn Ford led a balanced scoring attack with 20 points, Ellyn Grant-Keane added 12 points and Rachael Palladino chipped in with 10 points. The Ladycats played solid team defense the entire night limiting Dryden to single digits in all four quarters.
On Tuesday the Cats traveled to Elmira and lost a hard fought
contest to two time defending State Champion Notre Dame. MC Barrett led
the team in scoring with 12 points, while Jocelyn Ford had 9 points,
Rachael Palladino 8 points and Megan Palladino added 6 points. The
Ladycats worked hard the entire game and trimmed the Notre Dame lead to
3 points late in the forth quarter, only to have an injury to Rachael
Palladino derail their comeback efforts.
The Cats host a talented
Waverly team on Friday in another Division I contest, then they are off
until December 28th when they travel to Watkins Glen to participate in
the Melissa B. Wilson Holiday Tournament.
