FREEVILLE - Margie Vorhis, of 4 Cricket Lane, Freeville, NY, passed away at the Hospicare residence on King Road in Ithaca on Sunday, January 20, 2008, at the age of 62.

Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on July 20, 1945, Margie was the daughter of Alice and Bruce Alexander. Margie attended high school in Syracuse. While living on Long Island, she was Pool Director of the Floral Park Pool, where she also worked as a tennis instructor and an aerobics instructor. More recently, Margie was employed by Lansing Central School as Secretary to the Principal of the Middle School and served on the board of Small Comforts, a foundation providing quality of life support for people in need. An avid reader, she was the member of a local book club. Margie was also an active member of the Groton Assembly of God.

Margie is survived by her husband, Ed Vorhis, three daughters, Jill O'Brien of Jordan, NY, Julie (Bryan) Flanagan of North Arlington, NJ, and Kelly O'Brien of New York, NY; step sons, Edward (Natalie) Vorhis, and Christopher Vorhis; two grandchildren, Lilly Taylor and Brandon Michael, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the Groton Assembly of God, 701 S. Main St., Groton, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2008.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Margie's memory may be directed to Small Comforts Foundation, One Leslie Lane, Ithaca, NY 14850 and Hospicare, 172 E. King Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850. The family has entrusted arrangements to the Perkins Funeral Home in Dryden.
