Letters: Spending More Money on a Library Print
Gail Van Wicklen

ImageWhile I am not "against" a library, I am against spending more money on one.  Lansing residents already pay for the Tompkins County Library in their county taxes and the School Libraries in their school taxes.

I can hardly afford to pay the taxes now and don't think adding charges for a new library are going to help that.

Our buying library books will help Lansing move into the future.

I feel that the Tompkins County Library System already has more going for it than the Lansing Library can afford to have.

My children went through school without all of the computer labs, and without a local library.  They utilized the TC Library and found it more than adequate.

Now that there are on-line resources for researching topics to write papers, etc., and everyone has access to a computer they won't have to use the Lansing Library either.

Who is the library going to service?  I have not yet met anyone who uses it, thinks it is a good idea or even feels that it is remotely necessary.

I was surprised that it came up for a re-vote.
