Chris Granger of the Ithaca Coffee Company placed 3rd in the Millrock Freepour Latte Art Competition in Washington D.C. on Feb. 16th.

The Millrock Freepour Latte Art Competition features some of the country's finest baristas going head to head in a contest designed to display their coffee making skill and creativity. It is held 3-4 times a year in conjunction with Coffeefest, the premier international coffee industry tradeshow.

To be able to create beautiful patterns in coffee drinks requires an advanced level of expertise and requires that the barista have a firm understanding of all of the scientific factors that must be taken into consideration to create this unique art form.

In the final round of the competition Chris poured an overlayed rosetta, which was scored at 54.33 points out of a possible 90.00.

Justin Teisle from Alterra Coffee Roasters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin finished second with a score of 60.00 and Ben Helfen from Octane Coffee in Atlanta, Georga took first place with a score of 62.00.
