LANSING - Joyce W. Cima passed away February 29, 2008 at her home.

Joyce was born in Ithaca, NY, a daughter of the late Justin and Ruth (Mathews) White.

Joyce graduated from Cornell University '52 and was previously married to Alex Cima Jr. She was a loyal and dedicated employee at Cornell University working with the University Counsel and Board of Trustees for many years. Joyce was an active retiree participating in many university events including university-sponsored birding trips, hockey games and volunteering at the Alpha Xi Delta sorority house. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ithaca.

Joyce enjoyed her affiliation with the Cornell Ornithology Lab. She was an adventurous pilot and traveler who visited and sought out remote islands to watch birds, scuba dive and make friends with new people. Joyce also loved to entertain large groups at home and at work. In later years she loved it when her children and grandchildren would venture to Lansing for a visit at her home on the lake.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her sister, Judy White. She is survived by her children, Mike of Aurora, Colorado; Don (Pam) of Centerville, Ohio and Robert (Amy) of Encinitas, California, as well as six grandchildren and her beloved dog, Tony.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Lansing Funeral Home, 32 Auburn Road, Lansing, NY. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Jim Henry of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Ithaca

In lieu of flowers, those who wish to remember Joyce in the form of a memorial may direct them to the 1st Presbyterian Church, 315 N. Cayuga Street, Ithaca, NY 14850 or the Cornell Ornithology Lab.
