LCATS Spotlight Swimmer: Chelsea Boles Print

The coaches of the LCATS Swim Club have chosen Chelsea Boles as this week's 'spotlight swimmer'.  According to her coaches, Bob Terry and Reed Dewey, "Chelsea has a great work ethic!  She always has a very positive attitude and works hard."  Chelsea's best strokes are the butterfly and freestyle.  She can be seen at the Lansing pool practicing her strokes with enthusiasm and a bright smile.

The Lansing Star met with Chelsea at the Lansing pool and this is what this swimmer had to say.

Lansing Star:  What is your favorite 'stroke' and 'event' to swim and why?

Chelsea Boles:  I like to do the 50 butterfly but I have also done the 100 butterfly.  I am close to a BB time in the 50 butterfly. I even like to practice it during free time.  I also like to do the 100 individual medley.  I am close to a silver time in it and also in the 200 individual medley.

LS:  What do you think are the benefits of swimming to your life?

CB:  I have been a LCATS swimmer for four (4) years and it is really 'my sport'.  I want to continue with it and swim in high school.

LS:  What do you think of all the practice time?

CB:  I think it is OK.  You just have to get used to it.  I have been a part of the 5:30-6:30 p.m. swim group for a long time.

LS:  Is being a LCAT swimmer something you are proud of?

CB:  YES!  I love being part of the swim club.  I love the rules: 1) show up; 2) honor your teammates with your effort; and 3) do things correctly

LS:  Do you have any 'best moments in swimming'?

CB:  On the drive to swim meets, I get butterflys in my stomach. When I get to the pool, I do the warm-ups and that helps me get over being nervous.  I think the best moments are finding out that LCATS are the STSL (Southern Tier Swim League) Champions.  LCATS have been for a long time!

LS:  What are your goals in swimming?

CB:  I want to get more BB and silver times.  I also want to start the wearing of blue and yellow nail polish with the bobcat's pawprints and LCATS lettering when we have swim meets.
