BROOKTONDALE – Mrs. Ellen F. Robbins, age 93 of Brooktondale, went home to be with Our Lord and Savior on Saturday (September 17, 2005) evening at Cayuga Medical Center. She was born in Sullivan on September 26, 1911, a daughter of the late Charles Phillip and Bertha Mae Moss Johnson.
Ellen spent most of her life being a loving wife, mother and grandmother. In her earlier life, she worked at the Ithaca Pocket Factory. She was a devote member of St. James AME Zion Church where she was a deaconess.


She is predeceased by her husband, Charles A. Robbins Sr., a son, Charles A. Robbins Jr. and a baby granddaughter, Akila Larie Bailor.

Mrs. Robbins is survived by a daughter, Anna Robbins of Brooktondale; a brother, Jacob Johnson of Oxford; a sister, Mildred Hubbard of Ithaca; a daughter-in-law, Virdell Robbins of Pittsford, four grandsons, Charles (Chauquita) Bailor, Michael Bailor both of Ithaca, Saybert (Sharon) Carpenter of Endicott and Charles (Christine) Robbins III; nine granddaughters, Jacquelyn, Joanne, Jean Bailor of Ithaca, Brenda Hampton of Erie, PA, Cheryl (Joseph) Green of Tampa, Fl, Lynn Carpenter of Rochester, Kim Robbins of Pittsford, Toni Robbins of Rochester and Rita (Dale) Thomas of Fayetteville; twenty-eight great-grandchildren, over twenty-five great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday (September 23, 2005) at the Herson Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Saturday (September 24, 2005) at St. James AME Zion Church. Burial will follow in Frear Memorial Park, Ithaca. Memorials may be made to the church.
