RICHFORD - Robert L. Sherman, 73, of 23 Brigham Rd., Richford, NY passed away Monday, March 24, 2008 at Beechtree Care Center in Ithaca, NY.
Born November 7, 1934 at Homer, NY, he was a son of the late Bert and Harriet Walton Sherman. On April 19, 1975 he married Evonne VanEtten Dean at Snyder Hill Baptist Church, Ithaca. Mr. Sherman served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was a 35 year employee of Eastern A.I. Cooperative, now Genex. He raised and ran Beagles in field trials and was a member of the Cayuga Lake Beagle Club, he was an avid hunter, fisherman and bowler and was on the industrial league for over 30 years. He also enjoyed playing and coaching baseball for Kiwanis and coaching the Cinderella softball city league.
Mr. Sherman is survived by his wife of 33 years, Evonne M. "Bonnie"
Sherman of Richford, NY; three daughters, Jeanine (Charles) Komar of
Owego, NY, and Becky Wade of Newark Valley, NY; step daughter, Denise
(Robert) Woods of Newark Valley, NY; grandchildren, Shelby Lynn Wade
and Craig Robert Wade both of Newark Valley, NY, Paul William Woods,
Amanda Rose Woods of Newak Valley, NY; siblings, Cecila Mullen of
Dryden, NY, Charles (Patricia) Sherman of Pine Island, FL, Loretta
Eckels of McGraw, NY, Dave (Michelle) Sherman of Cortland, NY, John
(Joyce) Sherman of Tampa, FL, and Richard (Diane) Sherman of Syracuse,
NY. In addition, he is survived by his mother in law , Betty Campbell
of Ithaca, NY, sister in law, Brenda (Ray) Robinson of Freeville, NY
and his first wife and the mother of his childern, Katherine D`Andrea
of Newark Valley, NY and several nieces and nephews. Mr Sherman is
predeceased by siblings, Sarah, Charlotte, Christine, William and
George and father in law, Fred Campbell.
Funeral services will be
held Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 12 noon in the Brooktondale Baptist
Church, Slaterville Rd. with Rev. Richard Lloyd officiating. Calling
hours will be from 10 am until the service time at 12 noon. Burial will
follow at Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden, NY.
