Jacqueline Sonia "Jackie" Kelly, age 43, of 363 Munson Road, passed away with her family by her side at the home of her parents on Friday, May 16, 2008 after a valiant battle against Inflamatory Breast Cancer.

Jackie was born on February 5, 1965 in Stuttgart, Germany, the third of four children of Edward M. and Waltraud (Frank) Kelly. As a military brat, she attended schools in Italy, Germany, and Texas. Jackie enlisted in the US Air Force in 1987 and served in Mississippi, Wyoming, and Spain. Upon her honorable discharge in 1991, she moved to the Lansing area. Most recently, she had been employed at Cornell University as an HVAC technician.

Jackie is most remembered for her warm, generous, and truly compassionate nature and always carried her sharp wit and a ready smile to brighten anyone's day. She was a natural athlete; she loved the great outdoors, and devoted herself to the many pets that passed through her life.

Jackie is survived by her parents; her partner, Teri Bartlett of Lansing; her stepchildren, Brianne, Kyle and Bradley Bartlett, all of Lansing; her siblings, Colleen Kelly-Gaa of Heidelberg, Germany, Angela P. Zhe of Dryden, and Michael E. Kelly of Nuevo Laredo, Mexico; and a long list of family and friends who dearly love her and sorely miss her.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to Noon on Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at the Lansing United Methodist Church, 32 Brickyard Road, with a funeral service immediately thereafter. Prayers of committal will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery in Lansing following the church service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jackie's memory may be directed to Hospicare of Tompkins County, 172 East King Road, or the Tompkins County SPCA, 1640 Hanshaw Road, Ithaca, NY 14850. Arrangements are under the direction of Lansing Funeral Home, 32 Auburn Road, Lansing, NY.
