ImageTompkins Girls Hockey Association (TGHA) announced its plans for the 2008-09 season which concludes the program's 35th anniversary year. The TGHA Board is making arrangements for travel team formation sessions September 13-14 for 19U, 16U, 14U and 12U Ithaca Shooting Stars teams; and for Initiation, House, and Recreation programs that begin in October.

The Ithaca Shooting Stars will be hosting its annual tournament December 5-7; last year 24 teams played in the four different age groups.

Two events in October will welcome new girls to TGHA as well as give continuing players a chance to get back on the ice.  Try Girls Hockey on Monday, October 20 is geared to brand new skaters and hockey players who will participate at the Initiation level. The annual Open House is set for Monday, October 27.  Girls of all ages and levels come together for this event which is a kickoff for the season.  Coaches are introduced and key leaders welcome the TGHA community for the new season.

In addition, TGHA is offering a series of three "Put the Biscuit in the Net" sessions in October for area Girl Scouts.  Scouts will borrow hockey equipment and be introduced to the game of ice hockey while earning a badge.

The TGHA Board is lead by co-presidents David Herrick and Mary Grainger.  John Golay is vice president for travel teams. Kathey MacQueen and Heather Swift are leading house programs.  Cathy Long is registrar and Judy Yonkin is treasurer.  Karen Muckstadt is the board secretary, and Wayde Whittaker coordinates the Cub Club.  Barbara Horton and Liz Wood direct fundraising, and Becky Waddle is the representative-at-large.
