OXFORD – Mr. Jacob G. Johnson, age 86 of Oxford and formerly of Ithaca, went home to be with Our Lord and Savior on Tuesday afternoon (September 20, 2005) at the New York State Veteran’s Home in Oxford. He was born in Ithaca on March 14, 1919, a son of the late Charles Phillip and Bertha Mae Moss Johnson. Prior to his retirement, he was an auto mechanic.

Mr. Johnson is survived by a wife, Phyllis C. Johnson of Oxford; a sister, Mildred Hubbard of Ithaca; two nieces, Anna Robbins of Brooktondale and Audrey Young of Syracuse; a nephew, Charles Phillip Johnson III of Syracuse; a host of great nieces and Nephews, cousins and friends.

He is predeceased by his sister, Ellen F. Robbins, who died on September 17, 2005 and with whom he will share funeral services with on Friday and Saturday.


Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday (September 23, 2005) at the Herson Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Saturday (September 24, 2005) at 11:00 a.m. at St. James AME Zion Church in Ithaca. Burial will follow in Frear Memorial Park with full military honors. Memorials may be made to the America Cancer Society.
