Lansing is a powerhouse where varsity sports are concerned.  And while some teams are more successful than others, the Bobcats share the strong spirit and drive that frequently lands them at state championships.  This year was no exception as boys and girls swimmers, a golfer, wrestler and runners represented Lansing at States.  At the same time club teams continued to excel, and the Shooting Stars Girls hockey teams rocked.

The big news was the resignation of long-time Athletic Director Ed Redmond.  It came as a last minute surprise in the event, though school officials knew he was looking.  This meant the district had to fill yet another top administrative position.  They hired John Taylor, but it was Redmond who got the Spring Season squared away before he left.  That included hiring Bob Brantner to replace Redmond as football coach.

Former Lansing athletes Dennis Eade, Amy Childers, Kevin Kessler, and the 1976-1977 Men's Basketball Team were inducted into the Lansing Sports Hall of Fame last January, and in November Hall of Fame Committee Chairman Marty Christopher announced that Coach Stan Sobus's from 1956, 1957, & 1958 teams will be inducted on January 31 along with Jason I. Eade, Ronald "Ron" Eastman, and Beverly {Longhouse} Hartz.

The Star profiled some of Lansing's outstanding current coaches this year, and plans more going forward.  The winter sports season is half over with some outstanding wins for many Lansing teams, some of which remain undefeated.
