SLATERVILLE SPRINGS - Margaret Mae Beam Decker of Slaterville Springs died in her home on March 3, 2009 with special family friend Delores Newman by her side. She was born on May 31, 1921 to Oscar Bullis and Nellie Straight Beam who predeceased her. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of almost 60 years, LeRoy J. Decker and her sister Betty Beam. She was a lifelong resident of the Town of Caroline.
Margaret was retired from Tompkins County where she was Receiver of Taxes. She also previously worked at Fletcher's Dry Cleaners, Dr. Elwood Smith, Optometrist and Agway before she went to work for the County.
She is survived by her sister, Virginia Bixler of Groton;
sister-in-law, Alice Jacoby of Ithaca; son, LeRoy O. Decker (Mary Ann)
of Clark Mills, NY; daughter, Priscilla Vaine (Donald) of Springfield,
MO; daughter, Teena Abel of Annandale, VA; grandchildren, Kevin Decker,
Christopher Decker, Timothy Decker, Michael Decker, Michele Buddle,
Jeffrey Decker, Jennifer Dunlop, Debra Oglesby, Mark Vaine, Colin
Vaine, Rebecca Abel and Jeremy Abel; twenty great grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at
the Perkins Funeral Home, Dryden on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 11:00
am. Burial will be in the Caroline Grove Cemetery, 3204 Slaterville
Road, Slaterville Springs, NY immediately afterward. In lieu of flowers
the family would suggest donations to Alzheimer's Association, Southern
