14 Lansing Writers Earn Top Honors |

 14 Lansing students earned honors in the ninth TST BOCES Creative Writing Contest. The Lansing students competed with students from five other schools in four categories of writing.
Meredith Czymmek won Very Honorable Mention for her story, 'A Night in My Life' in the grades 6-8 group. Lucy Rogers won Third Prize for her essay 'Silent Learner' in the same age group.
In the Regular Poetry category Kathryn Miller won first prize in the grade 6-8 group for her poem, 'Guilt.' In the grades 9-11 group Tara Miller won Third Prize for 'The face of Fear.' Very Honorable Mention went to Yusong Liu in the grades 6-8 group for 'Colorless, and Lexi Williams in the 9-11 group for 'To Soar Without Wings.'
Lansing High School took all the prizes in the grades 9-11 Structured Poetry group. First Prize went to Kelsey Arrison for 'Days of Innocence,' Second went to Justin Sherman for 'Winter,' and Third went to Shaye Weldon for 'To Be A Cat.' Very Honorable Mention was awarded to Caroline Prybyl for her poem 'Sunshine,' Brittany Brown for 'Their Romeo and Juliet Tale,' and Gianna Gentile for 'Cheater.'
In the Essay competition Kristen LaRock's 'Her Sweet Voice in My Head as a Little Girl' earned Second Prize, and Ashley Engels' 'Feeding Time on the Farm' earned Third, both in the 9-11 group.
Teachers of the winning students include Todd Howell, Lisa Topoleski, Lindsay Woodward, June Martin.
