ImageThe annual Lansing Lions Club chicken barbecue will be at Myers Park Saturday, rain or shine.  But Lions Club members are hoping for Shine.  "We hope all this rain will disappear by Saturday," says Lion Joe Metz.  "The weatherman says about 30 percent chance of showers!"

This year the Lansing Community Council is contributing a band to the event.  The Ithaca New Orleans Dixieland Band plays a variety of Dixieland music including music made famous by Louis Armstrong, Pete Fountain, King Oliver and more.

The band has a combined musical history of hundreds of years of individual playing experience in a wide variety of musical styles and these seasoned players have come together some of the Happiest Music on the planet    Personnel include, the Leader, David Plaine on alto and baritone sax, Casey McDonald on vocals, piano and trumpet, Dave Richman on vocals, guitar and banjo, Peter Forlano on clarinet and tenor sax, Bob Fisher on trumpet and flugel horn, Dana Paul on upright bass, Mark Sammo on vocals, electronic drums and percussion.

As usual there will be other organizations setting up tents, including the Lansing Historical Association.  Serving begins at 11:00am and continues until all the chicken is gone, usually around 2:30pm.  Metz says the prices haven't changed since last year.
