Lansing's Girls Varsity Swimming and Diving Team finished an amazing season as the top rated team at the IAC Championship on October 29th at Horseheads. "Lansing set a meet record in the 200 Free Relay," reports Coach Diane Hicks-Hughes. Lansing's Kristin Carlson took second in the Diving Championship as well.

Ms. Hicks-Hughes also notes, "Lansing took 1st place finish in Relays and had 1st, 2nd, 3rd place finishers in individual events."

In the first event Claire Eckstrom, Becky Mapes, Hannah Wingate and Rachel Bland came in second in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, finishing in 2:01.94 and scoring 26 points for Lansing.

Nikki Dean sped into first place in the 200 Yard Freestyle in 2:01.35, scoring 16 points. Hannah Wingate scored 12 points and Kendal Dean 7 in the event. In the Girls 200 Yard IM Claire Eckstrom (2nd - 2:25.39 - 13 points), KC Hatfield (5th - 2:35.95 - 10 points), Leigh Conley (10th - 2:43.14 - 3 points) and Maeve Campbell (12th - 2:46.37 - 1 point) all scored for Lansing.

Caitlin Wright took second in 25.93 swimming the 50 Yard Freestyle with Kali Dean, and Rachel Bland also scoring. In the 100 Yard Butterfly Hannah Wingate took second in 1:07.19, with Maeve Campbell and Chelsie Radcliffe scoring as well.

Caitlin Wright took another second in the 100 Yard Freestyle completing in 57.02 with Lansing swimmers Kali Dean and Rachel Bland scoring.

Nikki Dean took first place, finishing the 500 Yard Freestyle in 5:33.53. Earlier in the season she had set a record in the event. Kendal Dean and Kayla Arrison also scored in the event.

Lansing scored first place in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay when Claire Eckstrom, Caitlin Wright, Nikki Dean and Kali Dean completed the relay in 1:45.10, scoring the top 32 points. In the 9th event Claire Eckstrom (1:06.94), KC Hatfield (1:10.76) and Lexi Payton (1:13.81) all scored for Lansing. Becky Mapes took 3rd in 1:16.29 in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with Leigh Conley (1:22.60) scoring as well.

Hannah Wingate, Kali Dean, Caitlin Wright and Nikki Dean finished the meet in first place, winning the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay in 3:53.25.

The meet represented a triumphant finish to a season with no losses.
