Dear Editor,

Technology has brought many great things to this world. We can talk to anyone, anywhere and we can explore never before seen worlds light years away. It has also allowed us to buy and sell goods which we have never seen from people we will never meet. Of course there has to be a certain amount of mutual trust for this to be successful. People find it much easier to break this trust over the phone or internet where there is no face to face meeting. It is all to easy to pretend you are someone else on the internet.

I recently purchased an item on Ebay from a Lansing, NY resident. I immediately paid for it as I was led to believe it would be shipped upon receipt of the money. The item never came. I inquired about the reason for the delay and was threatened and told to never call again. I am a resident of Northern Ontario and I don't know very many Americans, this gentlemen is not a very good ambassador to your country. He has convinced me to cease using Ebay and to never again purchase something from the States.

Anyone can commit a crime against people whose eyes they will never look into or hand they will never shake. There is no handshake key on any keyboard I've seen. Technology may have brought us closer together but it has brought an unfortunate end to the mutual trust and respect between two human beings.
