 A September 1911 article in a newspaper reports that John V. McIntyre wanted to sell the county the hotel, for $30,000 to be made over into a county hospital. He thought the hotel would make an ideal structure for a central, administrative building. The five acres of land would become a garden for light employment of patients or employees.
He said the ballroom could be made into an large open-air ward by raising the roof and supporting it at intervals with pillars, thus eliminating the need of building "shacks".(This was probably to serve Tuberculous patients.) The private dining room could be quickly converted into an operating room according to doctors who had seen it. Needless to say, the Board of Supervisors did not take Mr. McIntyre up on his offer and Lansing had to wait for Convenient Care to be built as a health care facility for the town. |
