Washington, DC - Congressman Tom Reed announced two grants worth $1,054,874 Wednesday from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide the city of Ithaca with funding to develop affordable housing.

“We care about ensuring our friends and neighbors have fair access to quality housing,” Tom said. “This grant enables our communities to develop affordable housing and boosts jobs.”

The Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) program provides annual grants to States and local units of government to develop viable urban communities by providing housing and a suitable living environment, and by expanding economic opportunities, for low- and moderate-income people. Tom is a proud supporter of CDBG and recently toured CDBG projects with the HUD Region II Administrator Lynn Patton.

The HOME program helps to expand the supply of affordable housing to low- and very low-income families by providing grants to States and local governments to fund housing programs that meet local needs and priorities.
