Monday Village of Lansing officials set election day for April 26th.  Incumbents Donald Hartill, Lynn Leopold, and Pat O'Rourke will be running for a new term in office.  Election day was set after Trustees approved a $3.8 million budget that slightly lowers the tax levy and will raise the tax rate by two cents.  All three candidates are running unopposed.

"We always make a practice of setting the budget before the election," Hartill said.  "Voters have an opportunity to express their concern one way or the other."

Hartill is running for his eighth term as Mayor.  Prior to becoming Mayor he served as a Village Trustee for eight years.  Leopold began her tenure as a Trustee over a dozen years ago when she was appointed to finish Audrey Kahin's term.  When Deputy Mayor Larry Fresinski moved to Las Vegas in 2010 Leopold was tapped to fill that role.  She is running for her sixth term on the board.  O'Rourke was appointed to fill Fresinski's spot on the board, and is running for her first full term as Trustee.

The election will be held on Tuesday, April 26th from noon to 9pm at the Village hall.
