grimm120On Tuesday, August 14, 2012, the Penfield Central School District is expected to appoint current Lansing Superintendent Dr. Stephen Grimm as their next Superintendent. Dr. Grimm has served the Lansing school and community since January of 2008.

"Dr. Grimm is a first class superintendent," Board President David Dittman said. "He is fiscally adept, academically balanced, transparent, and caring and sensitive, with the education of the children always foremost in his decision process. His management style is collaborative, including teachers and community in important decisions, but as a true leader he takes responsibility for the decisions that he makes. Penfield Central School District is fortunate to have him as their leader. His talents will be very difficult for Lansing Central School District to replace."

In a statement sent to faculty and staff on Wednesday evening, Grimm stated, “I want you to know how much I value you and the work we have accomplished together for the children of Lansing over the past nearly five years. The relationships my family and I have developed in Lansing over these years are very special, and will be what we miss the most. While I had every intention of seeing my children graduate as Lansing Bobcats in 2023 and 2025, I could not pass up this opportunity to be closer to my extended family in the Rochester area, and to extend my professional influence to a larger population of students and professionals.”

District officials say the Board of Education is working hard to plan for a smooth transition, which should occur near the beginning of the school year.

“I wish you the best of luck for continued success and will always cherish my memories of this great school district and community!" Grimm added.
