library_sketch120The Lansing Community Library’s (LCL) 2014 budget will be increased by $15,000 and three new Trustees will join the Board in May for three-year terms, based on the outcome of the April 23rd, 2013 vote.

The tax levy increase was approved 128 to 90. New Trustees include Tania Lawrence, who served as appointed Trustee in 2012-2013 to fill a Board vacancy, Elizabeth (“Liz”) Miller, and Andra Benson, re-elected with 75 votes as a write-in candidate.

Emily Franco, President of the Board, noted, “The Board is delighted to have this community support, enabling us to further enhance the library’s collections, technology, and programs, as well as to help cover increases in our ongoing operating expenses.”

Julie Berens, Board Vice-President, said “The three elected Board Trustees are extremely well qualified and will help LCL continue to build activities, participation, and community involvement in LCL’s programming and outreach objectives.”
