pettograsso_120Lansing Board Of Education (BOE) President David Dittman announced Monday that the board intends to vote on whether to remove the 'Acting' from Acting Superintendent Chris Pettograsso's title.  Pettograsso was appointed Acting Superintendent last fall after Superintendent Stephen Grimm announced his resignation.

"We intend to enter into discussions with Chris Pettograsso, our Acting Superintendent, about becoming our Superintendent of the Lansing School District," Dittman said.  "In this regard she will schedule meetings with the various constituents as a vehicle for us to obtain feedback for the Board of Education."

Pettograsso was hired as Lansing Elementary School Principal since 2007.  Before coming to Lansing she spent much of her career in the Watkins Glenn school system as a coach and elementary school reading teacher, and then as an Interim Middle School Principal and later as Curriculum and Instruction Director.  Originally from Albany, Pettograsso earned a BA in Sociology at Ithaca College, then a Masters Degree in Reading Education from Elmira College.  She earned a Certificate of Advanced Study in School District Administration from SUNY Cortland.

On February 27 she presented to the Elementary School faculty and staff.  On March 1st she presents to the Elementary School Focus Forum.  All district employees and the public may attend the focus forums, scheduled at 3:15.  On March 4th she presents to the Middle School faculty, and on March 5th to the high school students.  March 7th she presents to the leadership team.  March 8th she presents to the Middle School Focus Forum.  On March 11th she presents to the high school faculty, and March 15th to the High School Focus Forum.

A community forum has been scheduled for March 18th at 6pm in the high School Cafeteria.  This forum was originally scheduled to inform the public about the upcoming budget and to talk about school advocacy.  Pettograsso will begin the meeting by presenting her candidacy.  Dittman says feedback will be requested after each of these presentations to provide guidance for the BOE in making its decision.

"Based upon that information we intend to consider a vote for Chris Pettograsso for Superintendent at our April 8th meeting," Dittman said.  "We look forward to receiving your feedback and hearing from everybody in the district that has information they would like to share with the board."
