BodaRobert200Robert C. Boda, 88 of Lansing passed away February 5 after a long battle with cancer.  He was born September 6, 1926 and lived in Danby most of his life. He graduated from Ithaca High School in 1944, played football and was a wrestling champion.  Robert was a proud marine and served his country from 1944 to 1946, fighting on Okinawa and serving in China for 2 years.  September 10, 1949 he married his high school sweetheart, Ina Tyler and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year.

He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond Boda Sr. and Nora Sabin Boda; brother, Raymond Boda Jr., his wife Lillian;  youngest sister, Roberta Beach and brother-in-law Earl Andrews.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ina Tyler Boda; their children: Charles Boda of Rochester, Sue (Jack) French of Lansing and Bruce (Kristi) Boda of Danby; grandchildren, Heather (Chris) Dewey of Ohio, Carrie Davenport of Fredonia,  Jill (Andrew) Gravelin of Oneonta, Katrina French (Mannie Jefferson) of North Carolina, TJ French of Virginia Beach and Ashley Boda of Danby.  He is also survived by his brothers, Ronald (Beverly) Boda of Florida, Roger (Ella) Boda of Danby, Rollie (Sharon) Boda of Danby; sister, Ramona Andrews of Ithaca and several nieces and nephews.
Bob retired from the NYS Division of Youth Residential Center of Lansing in 1991 and spent many wonderful years traveling and enjoying their cottage on Cayuga Lake.  He worked many hours in his vegetable and flower gardens, building stone walls and whittling on the drift wood he collected at the lake.  He was a charter member of the Flashing Feathers Bow Hunters Club established in 1966.  An avid hunter and fisherman, baseball and softball fan, and he loved watching his grandchildren play sports.

A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Jane Sautter, and with Military Honors, will begin at 2pm, Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at Lansing United Methodist Church, 32 Brickyard Rd., Lansing, NY.
