Lansing, NY -- Vivian Ruth Dedrick, age 76, of 716 Auburn Rd., passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA.

Born in Rathbone, NY on August 27, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Willard Mose and Edith (Clayton) Harrington. After graduation from Addison High School, Vivian received her RN degree from Harpursville College. In 1956 she married Paul T. Dedrick, who survives her, and in 1965 they settled on their farm in Lansing where they raised their family.

Vivian took great pride in her nursing capabilities. She was employed as an RN for many years, and retired as a Home Health Care provider with Tompkins County. When her children were younger, she was active in 4-H, she was an avid reader and learner - always studying her latest interest. An active partner in the day to day running of the farm, Vivian helped with the livestock and numerous other chores. She spent countless hours tending her gardens, but was best known for her beautiful floral arrangements. Everyone knew when they saw the ‘red chair' under the pear tree the flowers and vegetables were ready for harvest and were available at the family's roadside stand. It delighted her to provide bouquets for weddings and special events, and she loved hearing how much someone enjoyed her flowers. Her talent will surely be missed.

Vivian is survived by her husband of 53 years, Paul Dedrick; her children; Roger (Kathy) Dedrick of Lansing, Debi (Jeff) Lampman of King Ferry, Sarah (David) Slocum of Gilbert, AZ, and Matthew (Jennifer) Dedrick of Lansing; Grandchildren, Valerie, Allison and Veronica Dedrick, Jeff, Jr., Joshua (Veronica), Andrew, Kyle and Julia Lampman, Kurt and Adam Slocum, Katylyn and Daniel Dedrick; Great Grandchildren, Jenna, Russell, Wesley, Nick, Nate, and Aiden. Vivian also leaves behind her brother, Spencer "Bud" (Louise) Mose of Dryden; a sister, Virginia Howard of Vestal; and a large extended family.

In addition to her parents, Vivian was preceded in death by her Step-Father, Clayton Harrington.

For those who wish, memorial contributions may be directed to North Lansing Auxiliary, C/O Irene Tyrrell, 180 Sharpsteen Rd., Locke, NY 13092 or a charity of your choice.
