mailmanJust a note say that it is terribly disappointing when someone's reputation takes an unfair beating from a thoroughly dispicable author but the tarnished reputation nevertheless remains.

Charles Hingham's biography of Errol Flynn, wherein he--and only he--makes the scurrilous claim that Flynn was a Nazi sympathizer and possible spy, has long been completely discredited (see, for instance, Tony Thomas' excellent "The Spy Who Never Was") through evidence and counter-research. Despite the dismissal by all other reputable Flynn scholars, including myself, of these unfounded claims, journalists like your Dan Veaner perpetuate the libel.

Consider the feelings of his two daughters who have had to stand by while the character assassination of their father spread over the decades. I would recommend Mr. Veaner sit back and begin to enjoy 'The Adventures of Robin Hood' again in the full knowledge that that star on the screen became a proud American citizen in 1942 and whose deep patriotism was acknowledged by all who new him most closely.
