mailmanI am concerned by what appears to be a pro-Republican slant to your coverage of the upcoming Lansing Town Board election. In your June 16 article titled "Lansing Democrats Choose Town Board Candidates," you mentioned the two Democratic candidates but then dedicated a paragraph praising the Republican incumbents.

This seems defensive and was completely unnecessary considering an entire article was devoted to the incumbents just two days prior on June 14. That article ended with a slogan "…Lansing needs a fighter and that's what Lansing gets with me and Robert, Doug and Ed."

Does that sound like free campaign advertising to you? It sure does to me.

It's also interesting that the number of signatures received by the Republican incumbents was reported but not the challengers. How did those numbers compare? I would honestly like to know. Leaving such an important detail out for one side in this early stage of the race seems odd and sends up question marks for me. Is it possible their opponents got even more signatures? How many signatures did Wetmore and Maharem-Horan actually get?

I am interested in what everyone has to say so I can make an informed decision on election day. Please make an effort to be neutral and provide equal coverage. I would really like to hear to hear the new ideas Wetmore and Maharem-Horan have to offer our town. Perhaps you could interview them and let us know what they plan to bring to the Town Board. That would be helpful.

Thank you.
