mailmanDear Lansing Residents,

I am writing to ask you to consider voting for my friend Dick Costello for Town Justice this November. While I am not a resident of your town, I am quite familiar with the area and had two of my children graduate from area colleges; one at Cornell and one at Ithaca. I also represented parts of Central NY in the House of Representatives for 20 years.

I have known Dick for 30 years and I have great respect for him. He is a wonderful human being, energetic, wise and dedicated. He has given this idea of public service a lot of thought and is committed to serving his community on a full time basis.

Dick had a great career as a PGA pro, capping his career as coach of Cornell Men's Golf Team and managing pro at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course. He has received many awards but would be quick to credit those around him for his success. He is beloved by countless Cornell alums.

While Dick is not an attorney he is a quick study and for the past six months has been attending courtroom precedings with the sitting Town Justice and other respected jurists in the area. He will be ready to do the job. There are many fine examples of Town Justices who are not attorneys and the law allows for that. The important thing is to elect someone who is thoughtful, caring and respectful of the law and those who defend it.

Please consider voting for Dick on November 6th. Thank you very much

Sincerely,
Jim Walsh
Member of Congress 1989-2009
